What is Cystitis?

Cystitis is a type of intestinal bacterial which infects the bladder and is also known as lower urinary tract infection which is common amongst women.  It is important to treat diagnose cystitis as quickly as possible, if left untreated infections in some cases can reach the kidneys which results in a upper urinary tract infection.  Women with short urethras will be more susceptible to this type of infection.  Although more common in women it can also affect males where it can be a serious threat. Although it is a serious condition in both genders it is less harmful to women due to the size of their urethra.  Most women will suffer from some sort of cystitis at some point in time and can occur at any age.
