|Indications||<p>Codeine is a painkiller used to treat mild to moderate pain.<br /><br />Codeine also helps to suppress cough. It is used to treat dry coughs (coughs that do not produce much phlegm).</p>|
|Interactions||<p>Alert your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here:<br /><br />- mood medicines, antidepressants or sedatives<br />- cough and cold medicines<br />- painkillers<br /><br />Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.</p>|
The dose must not be repeated for more than 4 times in 24 hours. It should not be used for the treatment of children under the age of 18 years.
Codeine causes drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert. Your level of alertness and reaction time may be affected by Codeine.
Codeine may also cause headache, constipation and dry mouth.
These side effects are temporary and should go away after the medicine is stopped.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with codeine. Restrict the use of codeine, if you have kidney, liver, lung, thyroid or adrenal gland disease.
