The Anodesyn range includes ointment and suppositories for the symptomatic relief of pain and irritation associated with haemorrhoids (piles). The products contain a local anaesthetic (lignocaine) that helps to numb the pain and allantoin to aid the healing process.A calming and comforting preparation designed to relive the discomfort of peripheral hemorrhoids and promote healing.

Directions:
Wash the affected area with fresh warm water. Dry the wet area and apply the ointment with gauze or lint. Uses daily and mainly after bowel movement. Repeat as required.

The name of your medicine is Anodesyn Ointment.
What is in Anodesyn Ointment?
One of the active ingredients in this medicine is lidocaine hydrochloride Ph Eur 0.5% w/w. This is the new name for lignocaine hydrochloride Ph Eur 0.5% w/w. The ingredient itself has not changed.
The other active ingredient is allantoin BPC 1934 0.5%w/w. It also contains white soft paraffin, wool fat and purified water.
What is Anodesyn Ointment and what is it used for?
Anodesyn Ointment is for external application and is available in 25g tubes. The ointment contains lidocaine, which is a local anaesthetic, to relieve pain and discomfort. It also contains allantoin, to help the healing process. The ointment is for the symptomatic relief of pain and irritation associated with external haemorrhoids (piles).

Before using Anodesyn Ointment
Do not use:
- If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients listed, especially lidocaine.
Anodesyn Ointment contains wool fat which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Use in pregnancy and breast feeding
As with all medicines you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the ointment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Lidocaine is expressed in breast milk.
How to use Anodesyn Ointment
Directions:
Adults and the elderly:
Wash hands before and after use. For external piles, wash the affected area with tepid water, dry and apply the ointment with gauze or lint. Repeat as required. Do not use for more than 7 days unless advised by your doctor. Not recommended for children.
See your doctor if you experience persistent pain, bleeding (especially where associated with change in bowel movements), if your stomach is swollen, or you are loosing weight. Avoid contact with the eyes.
What to do if you swallow some of the ointment?
If you accidentally swallow some of the ointment you should consult a doctor, or go to the nearest hospital casualty unit as soon as possible. Take the pack with you to show which medicine you have swallowed.
Possible side effects of Anodesyn Ointment
Although side effects are uncommon, after application hypersensitivity reactions may occur. If you notice these or any other unwanted effects, stop using the ointment and tell your doctor or pharmacist.
How to store Anodesyn Ointment
Store the pack at or below 25°C. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the ointment after the expiry date shown on the tube.
