OILATUM Junior Bath Formula 150ml
What is OILATUM Junior Bath Formula?
OILATUM Junior is specially formulated to treat childhood eczema. It soothes itching and irritation, rehydrates the skin, and helps protect against further drying. It is fragrance-free, and cleanses without soap, dispersing in the bath water (unlike ordinary bath oils which can form a film on the surface) to give an inviting, milky bath.

Infant bath: Add 1/2-2 capfuls to a small bath of water, soak for 10-20 minutes, gently pat skin dry. Child bath: Add 1-3 capfuls to a bath, soak for 10-20 minutes, gently pat skin dry.

What is childhood eczema?
What is childhood eczema? Childhood eczema, sometimes called atopic or infantile eczema, is a fairly common hereditary condition which affects around one in every eight babies. The skin becomes irritated and inflamed. It feels very itchy, and the child instinctively scratches, which aggravates the condition and can lead to the skin becoming broken and raw, and even in severe cases to infection.
Where does the eczema usually appear?
Most commonly, eczema occurs on the inner creases of the elbows and knees in children, and on the face and neck in babies.
Treating eczema flare-ups
So long as the eczema is under control, emollient treatments may well be enough to maintain control, by keeping the skin moisturised, and relieving irritation and itching. However, most children will suffer from eczema flare-ups from time to time. Areas of skin then become red and inflamed. Flare-ups can be made worse by bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus, which live in large numbers on the skin of atopic eczema sufferers.
Your GP may also prescribe a topical steroid cream or ointment, such as hydrocortisone, to be applied to inflamed areas.
If the inflammation leads to infection, an antibiotic may be prescribed.
Itching at night can be a serious problem if it prevents your child from sleeping, and your doctor may then prescribe an antihistamine medicine to help the child (and you!) get a good night's sleep.
If your child's eczema is very severe, and does not respond to normal treatments, your Health Visitor or GP will be able to advise you about treatments such as wet wraps, and alternative therapies which may help.
